Yahoo Became Touch Sensitive

November 17th, 2009 | Posted in Rest of Internet

If you are a fan of Apple iPhone or touch screen phones – then you will really enjoy the Yahoo’s new home page design.

The new home page design is so sensitive just like the touch sensitive screen. Though Yahoo did implemented the new page design while some time ago – but I was the one who was clicking on the link at the bottom to view the classic home page design.

But now that option is erased and no option of second home page is left – so now have to new touch sensitive page.

Why I am calling It Touch Sensitive
If you have visited the Yahoo new home page you would have found that if cursor is hover over any option that section highlights and opens up.

This may be enjoyable for some – but I am really annoyed with this – if accidentally the mouse cursor hovers the option then also that option highlights.

Yahoo should alter this and make the options viewable only with a single click.

Do you feel that Yahoo home page needs to be less sensitive?

Recover Your Lost or Deleted Content

November 11th, 2009 | Posted in Help, Rest of Internet, Web Design/WordPress

It may have happen to you that while editing some file you deleted some file accidentally or with your blog that some pages might have been deleted accidentally. This happens to all – sometime by mistake and sometime having less time and wanting quick work done.

So, when there is a problem – there has to be a solution for it. Therefore the simple solution to this issue is:

When Content Lost
Because if something is deleted from the server its usually a long process to recover – contacting your hosting company and asking for previous backups – and installing them over again – and because the lost are not the web pages but they are just the single page or something one or two file.

Therefore, getting complete backup to reinstall is not a wise idea. The wiser way is to search for that page in the Google cache – Yes it’s the simplest way to get the old content again. I myself have done this many times and every time I found the content on Google cache.

But the point to keep in consideration is – search the lost content quickly because if you wait for two-three days then chances are less to get that content – as Google bot crawls your missing link and replaces with the cached content.

Not True in Other Cases
This might not be true with many other cases where your coding is lost (PHP coding) – you can’t get those PHP codes.

Else way, for each accidentally deleted content; – Google cache is helpful.

Decrease Spam in Email with Simple Trick

November 4th, 2009 | Posted in Rest of Internet, Self Improvement

Spam is increasing and there are new ways everyday to spam you – its becoming harder to fight these spam issue. The kind of spam that irritates most is the email spam – when you start receiving emails from person or organization that you have not subscribed to or you don’t know them.

They just email you some attractive offers and bunch of subscription information. These emails are not only once a day but also many times during the day. It’s very hard to recognize who is spamming you and how to get rid of this email spam.

The method I have been applying to get rid of this kind of spam is making two emails – one email, which you never give to anybody and second email, which you give to everyone who asks for it.

How does this help?
I will term your real email as original and your second email as duplicate email. This does help in decreasing the spam, which often irritates. You open an email and with your name it is given that there is someone waiting for you or long time friend. This is the place where your duplicate email comes in – for your friends and relatives give the original email and the place where you are not sure give your duplicate email.

There are sites which claim that they have true product but they are nothing with a sales page to collect newsletter – here you have to give your duplicate email and after seeing the working if you feel like everything is fair then only give your original email.

I have do found on various networking site profiles that some people often use their original email address to show to public – this is nothing but attracting spam in your email.

Therefore, make two emails and see how this bit of trick can help you decrease the spam.

Simple Guide for Server Migration or Transfer

October 27th, 2009 | Posted in Rest of Internet, Web Design/WordPress

One of the topics that mostly attract my attention on Webmaster forum is about site migration. Users that post threads about migration of one server to other are often confused and don’t know the procedure that how it is been done.

This post is a simple guide to all those migration issues. For cPanel users you have to do the following for site transfer.

Step One
Login to your cPanel and find the backup icon – which you can find on the homepage of cPanel. Click on backup.

Step Two
After the backup page opens – just see the “Home Directory” and click on it to begin downloading. After this has finished or along with it depending on your Internet speed click on the “Databases” it will also begin downloading.

After the both files (zips) have been downloaded – Login to your new cPanel where you have to transfer the files.

Repeat the Step One procedure and after the backup page opens.

Step Three
On the right of “Home Directory” option you will find a “browse” button – just browse the downloaded “home directory” file – select it and press the “upload” button.

Same thing is to be done for “Databases” – and when the two zips have been uploaded to the new server.

Open the “configuration file” of your website – this you can browse after returning to the home of cPanel and clicking “File Manager” just browse to the location of your configuration file for your system.

Common examples or filenames for configuration file is:
# Config.php
# Database.php
# Db.php
And commonplace you can find these files are “include” folder or the home folder of the website.

Edit the database details depending on the new server. One thing you have to make is the new database username – Which you can do by clicking on MySQL Database link on the home page of cPanel.

Last Step
This is all – you have done all. As wordpress installation says – were you expecting more steps – sorry to disappoint you.

Excellent Fooling Stuff for Twitter

October 24th, 2009 | Posted in Rest of Internet, Reviews

Twitter has become the new life spending style for many and this is also the fact that most of us can’t leave twitter or keep aside.

But the usual issue with the 9 to 5 office going people is they have to face their boss for their work and they can’t enjoy the twitter on their work station – the fear of being caught is much.

Now you can forget all that because all requests have been heard and one application has been designed for twitter by which you can easily give illusion to your boss as if you are working.

SpreadTweet is the client application, which looks like excel spreadsheet – but it is twitter. You can download the tool and install in your comp – you need to have Adobe AIR tool to run this application. Don’t worry if you don’t have one – you can always access the web-based client application for browser.

Just see the screenshot below to get a perfect view of the application – you will be really amazed how it is designed – no one can catch you.

spreadtweets

Download this application from here – this does have different variants to suit you.

But I would suggest to the office going staff that during recession avoid this tool and don’t use this particular tool much in your office because at the end you are not making any gain by not doing your work – this tool is a fun factor you can involve.
